We are Legacy Dairy

The Jones family owns and operates Legacy Dairy in northern Barren County. We are a fourth generation farm family trying to survive in the dairy industry. We are creating our niche by offering our own milk to our community. We have BIG plans to carry out as our farm grows over time; marketing our milk is just the first step. We invite you to join us on our journey in continuing the family legacy and living out our dream in small town Hiseville, KY.

Everything from milking, to processing and bottling is done right here on the farm. We even do all of our deliveries. Since we have a small herd, ALL of the milk produced by our ladies is processed right here; we do not sell any extra milk to a co-op.

Owners Doug and Genelle bought Doug’s uncle Glenn’s dairy in 2013 after he passed away. We sold our milk to our co-op, Dairy Farmers of America, from August 2014 until June 2016, when we had a barn fire. We started planning to expand our dairy into a bottling facility in October 2017. Finally, we were given the go ahead to start selling our milk in March of 2020 - the week of the shutdown. What a time!

Did you know?

Legacy milk comes strictly from cows raised and cared for right here on the farm in Hiseville and nowhere else. This makes Legacy Dairy the only single sourced, cream lined milk in Kentucky.

Legacy milk is from our primarily Brown Swiss herd where they have the option to graze pasture 365 days a year.

Our milk is low temperature vat pasteurized, but not homogenized so the cream will rise to the top!

Because we believe milk should be in its most natural form we only offer whole milk.

All of our milk is processed and bottled right here on our farm. Our parlor and plant is routinely inspected by the Milk Safety Branch in the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
